HUNTING - Moose, Bear,
Grouse

In an area that is blessed with a magnificent wilderness forest, the
Temagami forest offers an abundance of wildlife. The most sought after are the majestic
moose, crafty
bear, and the ever plentiful
grouse. This combined with the ever changing Autumn colours makes for one of the most enjoyable experiences.
Caribou Mountain - White Bear Forest:The trails of the
White Bear Forest offer the hiker, canoeist
and the adventurer the opportunity to travel through a portion
of Ontario's forest that has changed little over time. The
majority of the trails are located in an area that has never
been logged or mined. The trails vary from a leisurely one-hour
hike to an all day trip. Many species of birds and
wildlife can
be observed in their natural surroundings. A large variety of
plant and tree species have also been identified in the area.
The old growth forest holds red and white pine with ages ranging
from 150 to 350 years old. In this area there is in total 7
trails ranked from beginners to an advance level to be explored.
Temagami's Fire Tower and scenic lookout
on Caribou Mountain are a must see for any visitor to Temagami.
Not far from the Tower is parking and an Education Center with
historical information on forest rangers and forestry. On a
clear day the old fire tower on Maple Mountain can be seen from
the viewmaster located on the lookout platform at the base of
the tower. Scenic flights offer the visitor an overall view of
Temagami's magnificent scenery.
